Don't use it as the photo shows <== IT will burn August 7, 2010

Silicone is heat resistant to about 550F. If you put a piece under the elementof an electric stove or even above the burner and bottom pan of a gas stove Ican assure you the temperature will be over 550F when the burner comes on.If you've ever used the browning or broil setting you know how very hot asurface gets when a red hot element is shining upon it. The same would happento anything under the electric element.The silicone decomposes and might burn and the odor and smoke would ruin yourfood. It could also cause you eye injury. Silicones are a major eye irritant.When silicone is cured as in a mat it won't come off onto your hands.Many hand lotions contain a silicone. The Dimethicone in many 'good' lotionsworks well to seal in skin moisture. And if you happen to rub your eye it willsting for hours. Imagine lots of silicone smoke particles in the air, eyes,and lungs.I'm a materials scientist. Silicones are a terrific material. They likeeverything have limits to their performance and a downside when they degrade.Keep the silicone away from direct heat of the electric element or the metalpan just above the flames of a gas stove.

Not worth the trouble January 10, 2012

I had a similar oven liner previously and it worked great. Unfortunately, it didn't move when I did. I've purchased several of the fox run liners and have used 2. Each time I have trimmed the liner so that it didn't cover the heating area directly and each time in less than 6 months I've found that it has burned on to the bottom of my oven, in the middle far from the direct heat and without there being any liquid or food build up there to encourage burning and with the oven never having been set above 425F. It smells bad when this happens and is a pain to clean out. If you don't mind the bother buy something like this, but I wouldn't shell out the money for the fox run version as it certainly doesn't earn the higher price(about twice as much as the other liners).

PROBLEMS May 4, 2011

I used the silicone liner and when i went to take it off it was stuck to the floor of my oven. So how do I clean off the residue left? I figured it was caused by being close to the heating element but didnt see any red letter warnings re this. My house is for sale and dont want to ruin the oven. HELP!
