Our intended use: As supplemental heat and ambiance in a small loft in our cabin.
Likes:
I like the larger size of this unit over many of the smaller ones I've seen. It just seems more like a REAL woodstove to me.... It also stands out as more of a focal point.
I like the color and style of the piece - perfect for a rustic cabin setting.
Lightweight! I can move it easily for cleaning, or move it into another room if we like.
I like that the heat can be switched off so that it can be used year round just for a touch of ambiance. It's also nice to be able to adjust the intensity of the glow/flames. The flame/glow effect looks nice behind the door screens, and not nearly as cheesy as I thought fake flames might look!
Offers a nice even heat. Just enough to take the edge off in a small space.
Dislikes:
The legs and doors are made of a heavy plastic. They seem sturdy, but I was a bit disappointed, as the advertisement states metal construction. Being plastic, they are a slightly different finish than the metal portion of the unit. Time will tell how the plastic parts hold up...as I do wonder about cracking or fading.
The remote is hit or miss.... Even with brand new batteries, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.
Neutral:
The fan noise is noticeable, but not annoying.
